Wikatu News Search USA

Search in more than 578,000 current news articles!

Wikatu has been developed for over 15 years and was first launched in 2012 in Austria. After a refreshing pause in 2024, Wikatu has been revived and is excited to expand its reach to a broader audience.

Sorting Modes

Three types of sorting are available:

• Recency: recent +++ relevant ++ popular +
• Relevance: relevant ++ recent ++ popular +
• Popularity: popular +++ relevant ++ recent +

Advanced Search

Publisher Filter (by News Source)

NEW: By adding a #hash symbol (double cross), the results can be filtered by news source. This way, only sources that match the full domain or a part of the domain name will be included in the query.
e.g.: world #news-src or: stars #src-name or: #src.org moon
The result can possibly be further refined to a specific topic.

Limit Results to a Single Source

The search can be narrowed down to individual news sources. Simply click on the domain of the news provider below:

Time Limit: Day, Month

All results up to a specific day or month (maximum 1 year)
using @d[num day]/m[num month]:
e.g.: @d24/m12 Christmas or: @d1/m1 New Year

Boolean Operators

| before word/group: logical OR (max: 3 alternatives)
+ before word/group: must appear in the results
- before word/group: must not appear in the results
  e.g.: +Jupiter +Saturn -Neptun
  Parenthesized expressions are possible.

Search in Fields

Using a preceding @ - Possible values:
@title = headline, @descr = article preview
e.g.: @title "Quick Brown Fox" @descr (Lazy|Dog)

Phrase Search

Word groups enclosed in quotation marks
e.g.: "The Quick brown Fox"

/ after phrase: Quorum
e.g.: "Quick Fox Lazy Dog" /3
Datasets containing at least 3 of the 3 words

~ after phrase: Proximity
e.g.: "Quick Fox jumps lazy Dog"~2
The ~ proximity value defines the maximum distance
in words between search terms (excluding stopwords).
